Survivors of Dog Fighting: Oogy & Sam’s Stories

Two stories of dogs rescued from the horrors of dogfighting.
Two stories of dogs rescued from the horrors of dogfighting.

Dogs forced into the brutal world of dogfighting face unimaginable cruelty.

But some, against all odds, survive — and their stories remind us why our mission to end suffering matters.

Some wounds heal. Others remind us why we fight.
Some wounds heal. Others remind us why we fight.

Take Oogy, who was only ten weeks old when he was used as a bait dog.

His jaw was crushed, and most of the left side of his face was torn away before he was abandoned to die.

Thankfully, he was found and given a second chance.

Today, Oogy lives happily with his adoptive family, proving that love can heal even the deepest wounds.

From battlefields to blankets. This is how it should be.

Then there’s Bulletproof Sam, rescued at eight years old after years of forced fighting.

Scarred and missing most of his lips and teeth, he finally found safety with Hello Bully rescue in Pennsylvania.

Now, he knows what love feels like — and even has his very own couch.

While their rescues were done by others, Oogy and Sam’s stories highlight why we fight every day to end cruelty and overpopulation at the root.

Very few get out alive.

No dog should suffer like they did. With your support, we’re working toward a future where dogs no longer face lives of violence and neglect.

Thank you so much for standing with us.
