Moments before a car was meant to be crushed at a junkyard, an employee opened the hood to remove the battery … and found a cat!
"As he popped open the hood, a bundle of fur jumped out and took a blind leap of faith into his arms," according to the Charlotte Observer. [1]
The employee hung out with the cat for the rest of his shift, and then brought her to a nearby animal rescue center.
“She looked at him with soft eyes, thanking him with slow blinks and soft purrs. It was almost like she knew that her life had been saved,” said Brother Wolf Animal Rescue in North Carolina. [2]
A few hours later, the animal rescue center received a call from the junkyard from a man looking for his lost cat, Lilly.
According to the rescue team, Lilly “melted into his arms” when they were reunited.
It’s not clear how Lilly made her way to the junkyard and into the car. But Lilly is extremely lucky she was rescued in time … and that she had a guardian looking out for her.
