Colombia bans bullfighting, and more good news!

Updated: Aug 1

Today, we bring you heartwarming stories about the positive things happening for animals globally!

Colombia’s Congress passed a bill that will ban bullfighting across the country starting in 2027! (We know — not soon enough.) [1]

As you know, bulls are sensitive, emotional beings who feel pain just like us. Bullfighting is sadistic and senseless. It encourages crowds to laugh and cheer while a terrified animal is slowly tortured to death.

“Congratulations to those who managed that death will no longer be a show,” said Colombia’s president Gustavo Petro. [2]

Using artificial intelligence, scientists found that elephants call each other by unique names!

By analyzing elephant vocalizations recorded at Kenya’s Samburu National Reserve and Amboseli National Park, the scientists found that “elephants use specific vocalizations for each individual,” and “they recognize and react to a call addressed to them while ignoring those addressed to others.” [3]

Rescue dog Nanook experiences separation anxiety. When his guardians had to go run an errand, he began to cry and howl.

Nanook’s guardian, Lisa, used the two-way communication feature on her Ring home security camera to comfort him! [4]

Nanook approached the camera – confused, but calm. This sweet story highlights the power of technology to bridge the gap between humans and other animals!

Our mission is to end the number 1 cause of suffering and death for dogs and cats — overpopulation — by developing a permanent-lasting birth control cookie that will only need to be eaten one time, and it will in effect spay or neuter — without surgery.

For as little as $5 a month, you can help us stop the suffering before it starts!

Thanks so much for caring about animals!
