"Over a thousand whales are killed each year for their meat and body parts to be sold for commercial gain," according to Whale and Dolphin Conservation. [2]

Paul Watson and his crew were on their way to intercept Japan’s new whaling ship, a "floating slaughterhouse" designed to hunt and kill these magnificent animals. [3]

“We were immediately boarded by a SWAT team and … police who wasted no time in cuffing Paul Watson, our founder, and arresting him on a decades old Red Notice at the request of Japan,” said Ship Operations Director Locky MacLean. [3]

The Captain Paul Watson Foundation (CPWF) believes the arrest by the Danish police is “...politically motivated, coinciding with the launch of the new factory ship.” [3]

Japan issued an arrest warrant related to Watson’s anti-whaling campaigns in the Antarctic over a decade ago. “However, it appears that Japan had made the notice confidential to facilitate Paul’s travel for the purpose of making an arrest,” according to CPWF. [3]

For decades, Captain Watson has fought fiercely against whaling, seal hunting, and other forms of wildlife abuse and exploitation. He was one of the founding members of Greenpeace and later founded the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. [4]

His bold direct actions have saved countless marine animals and brought global attention to the cruel killing of these innocent animals. Through his fearless leadership, Paul has become a symbol of unwavering commitment to animal protection and conservation.

Please demand Paul Watson’s immediate release!

Dear Prime Minister Frederiksen,

We urgently call for the immediate release of Paul Watson, a fearless environmentalist and animal rights advocate who has been arrested in Greenland. Paul Watson has dedicated his life to protecting marine wildlife and preserving our oceans. His arrest on politically motivated charges is unjust and a grave injustice to a man who has tirelessly fought for compassion for animals and the well-being of our planet.

Captain Watson’s actions have always been driven by a deep commitment to the environment and the protection of marine life. His work has brought global awareness to critical issues such as the cruel killing of whales and seals. Detaining him undermines the values of justice and conservation that Denmark upholds at home and in the territory of Greenland, where Captain Watson is being held prisoner.

We urge you to act swiftly to ensure Paul Watson’s release, recognizing his invaluable contributions to environmental protection.
