It’s time for some positive stories about animals from around the world!
Brandon Garrett was driving through Oregon with his four dogs when his car crashed into a ravine.
One of his dogs traveled four miles back to the campsite where Brandon's friend was staying, which led his friend and family members to search for Brandon and the other dogs.
They found the crashed car in a ravine. The terrain was far too treacherous for them to reach, but they alerted authorities.
Thankfully, Brandon and all 4 dogs made it out! 2 of the dogs suffered from broken bones, and one of them needed surgery, but they are on the path to recovery!
A judge stopped an oil and gas lease in Alaska's Cook Inlet, which is home to critically endangered beluga whales.
If the lease had moved ahead, the whales would have been severely threatened.
“Today’s legal victory is a win for Alaska communities, threatened beluga whales, and future generations who will face a hotter planet,” said Carole Holley, an attorney with Earthjustice.
A family in Texas found an abandoned baby bird on the ground during their barbecue. They called their local animal rescue center, who suggested they put the bird in a box to keep the bird safe.
They didn’t have a box … but they did have a tortilla!
The little bird was kept safe and warm in the tortilla until a Wild West Wildlife rehabber arrived at the house.
“Undoubtedly, it was an inventive method to keep the baby warm,” said the animal rehab center in a Facebook post. “And surprisingly, it was effective.”
The bird was named Taquito, which means “little taco” in Spanish, and the recovery is going well!
Our mission is to end the number 1 cause of suffering and death for dogs and cats — overpopulation — by developing a permanent-lasting birth control cookie that will only need to be eaten one time, and it will in effect spay or neuter — without surgery.
For as little as $5 a month, you can help us stop the suffering before it starts!
Thanks so much for caring about animals!
