In Ohio, a woman was recently sentenced to one year in prison for brutally killing and eating a cat — a shocking reminder of the cruelty animals can face.
But an even more horrific reality exists in Vietnam, where millions of dogs and cats suffer an unimaginable fate.
Companion animals are stolen from their homes and stuffed into tiny, dirty cages, terrified and awaiting a cruel death. They are later cooked and served as dishes in restaurants.
Street animals, who have never known kindness, are rounded up to face even greater suffering. They are brutally killed — often in front of each other — as part of the horrific cat and dog meat trade.
Join us in demanding new laws to end needless suffering and protect animals from cruelty.
Every year, an estimated 6 million dogs and cats are captured or raised to be slaughtered in Vietnam.
Witnesses describe scenes that are hard to imagine:
“Caged cats howl in terror as they watch a man swoop in with a set of barbaric-looking pincers and yank one out by the scruff of its neck. After repeatedly bludgeoning the ginger animal, he plunges him or her in boiling hot water then throws the body into a defurring machine.”
Will you join us in demanding Vietnam stop the dog and cat meat trade?
The good news? Change is possible.
A recent survey shows that 91% of Vietnamese people believe the government should ban this practice. 95% don't even consider eating dogs and cats part of their culture.
The tide is turning, but change won’t happen without a loud, united demand for justice.
Together, we can push for laws to end this barbaric trade and protect dogs and cats from a life of fear and pain.
